About Legacy Locker

What is Legacy Locker?

Legacy Locker reads the photos and emails of your family's papers, puts them in order, and tells you what is due, has run out or is missing.

It also gives your executor one list of everything you own, with the paper behind each line.

Why not just a shared folder?

A folder stores papers. It doesn't read them, notice that a super nomination ran out in May, or ask whether the shares bought in 1998 are still there. Legacy Locker does, and it builds the list you'll be asked for from what it reads.

Who is Legacy Locker for?

Legacy Locker is for families who want their papers in order, and for the sons and daughters who help them.

Lawyers, accountants and financial planners also recommend it to their clients.

Will Legacy Locker contact my bank or super fund?

No, never. Legacy Locker never contacts your bank, your super fund or anyone else for you.

It only reads the papers you give it. If something needs doing, it tells you, and you decide what to do.

Getting started

What do I need to start?

To start, you need an email address and a phone.

The phone takes the photos of your papers. It is also used for the second check when you sign in. A son or daughter can help you set up that check.

How long does it take to start?

About five minutes. Sign up, take a photo of one paper, and see what Legacy Locker reads from it.

You can add the rest of your papers a few at a time, whenever it suits you.

Can my son or daughter help me?

Yes. A son or daughter can sit with you and take the photos, or help you set up the second check when you sign in.

You can also invite them to your locker so they can add papers too. Nobody opens your locker unless you invite them.

For sons and daughters

Can I set it up for Mum and Dad?

Yes, with their permission. You can create a locker for your parents and add their papers with them.

The locker stays theirs. They decide who else can see it, and they can change that at any time.

What if they don't want me to see everything?

That's fine. Your parents can let you see all of the locker or only part of it, and can take your access away at any time.

Before anyone is invited, the locker shows exactly what that person will be able to see and do.

Do my parents have to use the app?

No. You can do all of it from your phone.

When the locker has a question for your parents, it comes to you, and you can ask them yourself.

Who pays, me or them?

Either of you. Whoever adds the card pays for that locker: A$195 a year or A$20 a month with the launch offer, including GST.

One locker covers one person or a couple.

Your papers

What kinds of papers can I add?

You can add any paper you would want your family to find: wills, powers of attorney, super statements, share statements, bank statements, insurance policies, rates notices, tax returns and more.

Legacy Locker files each one under a plain heading, such as Superannuation, Property or Banking.

Can I send papers by email?

Yes. Each locker has its own email address. When a statement or a bill comes by email, send it on to that address and Legacy Locker reads it.

You can also set your email to send statements on automatically, so you don't have to do it each time.

Do I need to keep the original papers?

Yes. Keep your original will, and any other original papers.

Legacy Locker keeps a copy of each paper and a note of where the original is kept, such as a drawer at home or safe custody with your lawyer. Your family will know where to look.

Does it read papers in other languages?

Yes. Legacy Locker reads papers in Greek, Italian, Vietnamese, Chinese, Arabic and many other languages.

It keeps the original paper beside the English, so you can always see both.

How are my papers read?

Your papers are read by Lockie, the assistant in every locker. She runs on a private AI system.

She reads each paper so it can be filed and its dates noted, and asks when she isn't sure. The system does not keep your papers after reading them. It is never ChatGPT.

How will I know when something is due or has run out?

Legacy Locker notes the dates on your papers and shows you what is due, has run out or is missing.

It also sends a short email each month about what needs a look.
