How Legacy Locker works

Legacy Locker reads your papers, puts them in order, and keeps an eye on them.

Here is each part, in plain words, with an example from the Whitfields.

14 days free, then A$20 a month or A$195 a year, including GST. Cancel any time.

At a kitchen table, an older person holds a paper flat while their adult child takes a photo of it with a phone.

How do I add a paper?

Take a photo of the paper with your phone. That is all.

You don't have to type anything. Legacy Locker reads the paper and notes what it is, who it is from, and any dates on it. You can also add papers you already have on your computer, such as PDFs.

Can I send papers on by email?

Yes. Each locker has its own email address. When a statement or a bill comes by email, send it on to that address.

You can also set your email to send statements on automatically. Then new statements arrive in your locker without you doing anything.

How does it remind me about things?

Legacy Locker notes the dates on your papers and tells you when something is due or has run out.

It also sends a short email each month that shows how ready things are, what has changed and what needs a look. Every item links straight back into your locker.

Hi Susan,

Three new documents came in this month. Here's what I noticed.

The policy renews on 14 November 2026. Brightwater can tell you what it covers now.

    Open the document

  • Worth fixing

    Coastline Super statement

The nomination on this account ran out on 9 May 2025. Coastline Super can tell you what is on file now.

  • Still missing

    Enduring power of attorney

I haven't seen one yet, and the will is dated 12 June 2019. The lawyer who drew up the will can tell you if one was signed.

Shall I remind you a week before the insurance renews?

Can I ask questions about my papers?

Yes. Ask a question in your own words, and Legacy Locker shows you the exact words in your paper that answer it, with the page number.

It never says yes or no, and it never tells you what to do. You see what the paper says, and you decide.

A question about the papers

You asked: Does the contents policy cover flood?

“Flood. We cover loss or damage to your contents caused by flood, up to the amount shown on your schedule. We do not cover loss or damage caused by the sea, high tide or a storm surge.”

Read from: Brightwater Home Contents Product Disclosure Statement (PDS), page 34

These are the exact words in the policy booklet. Read the whole booklet, or ask your insurer, before you decide anything.

What questions does it ask me?

Legacy Locker asks you the questions your family can't ask later. For example, about shares it found in an old paper but not since.

It keeps your answers in your own words, with the date.

Questions the locker asked
  • We found AMP shares from 1998 but nothing since. Do you still have them?

Margaret: “Sold them when we bought the caravan. About 2004.”

    Kept on 14 August 2026

  • Your notebook says some papers are held in safe custody. Do you know which ones?

Margaret: “The house title and the original will, I think. Ask David.”

    Kept on 14 August 2026

What is the list for my executor?

Legacy Locker builds one list of everything you own, from your own papers. Each line shows the paper it came from and where the original is kept.

Each line is marked for how it is known: confirmed from a paper, worked out with the reasons shown, or still open. The list can also be produced as at any date in the past.
